A very rare & desirable Mauser Model 1878 zig-zag cylinder revolver, serial number
2077, with 5 ½ inch ribbed barrel and chambered in obsolete 10.4 mm calibre.
Pistol is in mint condition with a few light surface blemishes with 95% -/+ bluing.
In our opinion this revolver has never been fired the bore is bright & sharp with very
strong lands (rifling).
The Mauser C78 - also known as M78 Oberndorf - is a single-action revolver manufactured
by Mauser company in Oberndorf am Neckar during the late 19th century. It was the first
German revolver to be mass-produced for modern centre-fire cartridges.
Note : Note the prominent "zig-zag" pattern is where the revolver derives its nickname.
