WW1 Imperial German Artillery Luger Pistol Snail drum magazine & loader carrier.

The Artillery Luger Pistol armed with the 32 round Snail T.M. drum was a formidable firearm used
for flushing out allied soldiers in the trenches.

Throughout WW1 Imperial German Artillery Battery Gunners a unit normally comprising of up to
5-6 men were issued with a Wooden Trench Case containing 5 Snail drum magazines with one
loader and 30 boxes of 16 rounds 9mm ammunition. Some individual units were also issued
a wooden transit box case containing the Artillery Luger pistol,LP08 Stock-board,32 round snail
drum (T.M. trommel magazine) with dust cover and one T.M.loader, cleaning rod,stripping tool etc.
The LP08 Ari Trench boxes are rarely encountered our example is styled on one such box.

The Lange Pistole 08 (German: "Long Pistol 08") or Artillery Luger was a pistol carbine for use
by German Army artillerymen as a sort of early Personal Defence Weapon. It had a 200 mm (7.9 in)
barrel, an 8-position tangent rear sight (calibrated to 800 meters (870 yd)) and a shoulder stock
with holster. When set for long range use the rear sight element visibly moves to the left to
compensate for spin drift. It was sometimes used with a 32 round drum magazine (Trommelmagazin
08). Early issue LP08's had micrometer adjustable front and rear sights which required a 2-pin tool
for adjustment. It was also available in various commercial carbine versions with yet longer barrels.
