Stamped: 1916 - STEINMETZ - Breslau.
Before 1916, all WWI German leather equipment was issued in a
mid/chestnut brown colour. It was not un common for holsters to
be made from horse or cowhide leather as the demand for
equestrian & mounted units increased. On the outrbreak of
1st World War 1916 the High Command, demanded that all new
equipment thereafter should be issued in black thereafter.
Old inventories were also ordered re-coloured to the new standard.
As this was the height of WWI, many contractors ignored the new
specification, which explains why so much equipment is black on
the front & brown on the rear. Our new made WWI era 4" Luger P-08
holsters are perfect for all WWI dated Lugers and have the exact
high quality as our black WWII holster. New Item.
