Navy Luger Magazine Wood Bottom.
Old style standard magazine bottom. Beautifully made extremely
hard to distinguish from an original wood bottom. Solid Walnut wood
oiled and ready to install. Some were made from Beech wood, but soon
replaced with walnut being a harder grain wood & able to stand up to
magazines being dropped onto hard surfaces thus prone to cracking
if made from the softer beech wood.
History
Wood bottoms were used from 1900 through to the end of WW1
and into the Weimar period when aluminium bottoms gradually
transitioned due to their increased durability.
