Army Luger Magazine Wood Bottom.
Old style standard army magazine bottom. Beautifully made v.hard
to distinguish from an original wood bottom. Solid Walnut oiled and
ready to install. Some were made from Beech wood but soon replaced
with walnut being a harder grain wood able to stand-up to mags being
dropped onto hard surfaces thus prone to cracking when made from
beech wood.
History
Wood bottoms were used from 1900 through to the end of WW1 and
into the Weimar period when aluminium bottoms gradually transitioned
due to their increased durability.
