Mahogany construction with brass hinges, lock and escutcheon key plate.

During the 1850's and 60's professional gamblers carried with them what
have come to be called "gamblers cases".

In these cases were kept the tools of their trade such as poker winnings,
dice for craps, money, playing cards, cat-house tokens and most important of
all, small arms known collectively as Derringers.
